WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Jeff Greene made Palm Beach County his home in 2009. In just six years he's scooped up close to $250 million in property.
"I've made a very big commitment to the city," Greene explained. "We live in this community. Our young children will go to school here. We're planning on staying here."
Today Greene added another highly visible property to his ever growing real estate portfolio; the Sail Club.
"I looked at it and decided to buy it," said Greene.
According to Greene the remnants of the sail club will be demolished before the end of this month. But he's not sure what's next for the 11-acre site. Greene says he wants to see his nearby apartment complex Cameron Estates rented and complete before developing the Sail Club property.
"Downtown [West palm Beach] is already being rebuilt and I'm just participating and joining the rebuilding process," Greene said. "I describe it as a jigsaw puzzle. Most of the big pieces are in. I'd like to have the privilege and the pleasure of adding a few pieces here and there to complete the puzzle."
Only the puzzle is the community Greene says has nothing but upward momentum, a community he's happy to be a part of.
"It's fantastic that you can live in a place and also to believe in it," Greene said. "I can't tell you that if I lived in some city in the Midwest that was dying and losing its population I'd be doing the same thing."
