PASO GOREE, Chile-- Chilean Navy divers this week freed a whale caught in fishing nets off the southern tip of South America.
The whale was reported stuck in the nets Monday.
It happened in the cold ocean waters of Chile's Patagonia region.
A Chilean Navy convoy made the three-plus hour trip off the coast at Puerto Williams to find the whale.
Divers went into the water and within about an hour, they were able to free the huge creature.
Chile's maritime authority called on the fishermen to remove their nets after the rescue.
