More than a dozen cats and dogs are calling Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League home after they were rescued from flood waters in the Midwest.

Animal groups rescued the animals from rising flood waters in Mississippi and helped get them to South Florida.

Peggy Adams received approximately 23 dogs, and three cats, while partner "All For One Animal Rescue" took in about eight dogs.

"Only reason we could take in these dogs and cats from Mississippi is because we had space because locals here in West Palm Beach and Palm Beach County have done a great job of coming in and adopting animals from us," said Rich Anderson of Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League.

Vet staff from Peggy Adams will check out each of the animals before they are put up for adoption.
