PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — A 75-year-old woman has died after crashing her car into a pond in suburban West Palm Beach on Tuesday morning, authorities say.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said the wreck happened around 9:40 a.m. at Okeechobee Boulevard and Vista Parkway.
PBSO said that according to witnesses, the driver, Raphaela Martin, appeared to be unconscious as her Toyota sedan traveled out of control on Okeechobee Boulevard.
The vehicle drove over a median and sidewalk, then careened into a drainage pond.
Martin was taken to Wellington Regional Medical Center where she was pronounced deceased.
It's unclear if she suffered some kind of medical episode while behind the wheel.
Photos from the scene showed Martin's car in the water, with its front end complete submerged and the driver's side door open.
