The Florida Department of Juvenile Justice has selected a new provider to run the Palm Beach Juvenile Correctional Facility.
The DJJ says Sequel Youth and Family Services will be taking over the facility once the contract is finalized.
It is unclear why the current provider, Youth Services International, chose to end its contract early. However, local leaders criticized the private company following reports and allegations of inmates being beaten or injured at the facility.
Once Sequel takes over, the company will then be running four facilities across the state of Florida.
The DJJ says in an effort to reduce the population at the facility, it will be putting a hold on inmate admissions.
