LAKE WORTH, Fla. --  Dozens of people in Lake Worth woke up ready to start their day but could not because they discovered someone had slashed one, two or even four tires on their vehicles.

"That's so disrespectful for you to come on somebody's property and just vandalize their car, really?" said Daphne Azpiazu, a single mom of four, who lives on G Street.

She woke up to find two tires slashed on her Dodge Charger. "I get on the phone, call 911 and I'm like, 'my car's been vandalized' and the police officer says 'you're not the only one, there's over 100 calls coming in.' "

Tara Torres couldn't even get her kids to school. "To wake up to four of my tires slashed is a difficult situation," said Torres, who lives at the La Joya Villages, an apartment complex on 6th Avenue South.

The sheriff's office said 65 vehicles were damaged.

But detectives on scene say there are as many as 100 cars with slashed tires between South F and South H streets.

The president of the tenant council says that this is the second time this week residents have had to deal with vandalism.

"This is a hard-working community, most of the families that live here work hard, they have two jobs and it's very unfortunate that we have to live this way," said Nancy Valentin.

Detectives are currently combing through footage from surveillance cameras to try and identify the person or persons responsible.

If you have any information you are urged to call Palm Beach County Crime Stoppers at 800.458.TIPS.
