Man rescued from Lake Worth house fire

Posted

Flames consumed a house on south "K" Street in Lake Worth. Neighbor Dennis Fridman said, "I heard the woman yelling fire and I got out of bed and ran across the street and ran into the house and it was completely engulfed in flames and smoke."

Dennis says the woman was able to get out of the burning house. He says he ran in to get her husband out, "Me and another man tried to help the guy out but he was strapped in bed with oxygen and by that time the fireman pushed us out of the way."

On their way out of the house, he heard the woman yelling again. "She started yelling the dogs are in there and then all of a sudden the big one came running out and I grabbed the little one," he says.

Neighbors watched helplessly as the home went up in flames. One of them, Rick Rivers, captured video. "I noticed smoke billowing from an apartment on the right side of the street just a couple of houses from mine," he says.

We're told the husband was rushed to the hospital with his wife by his side. Neighbors stepping up to help anyway they can. Dennis has taken in the dogs and trying to comfort them as best he can. "Poor things. they didn't know what to do. that one was just laying on the ground by the front door," he says.

The Red Cross is helping the couple. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
