A U.S. Marine Corps veteran is completing his paddleboarding journey across Florida quicker than he predicted.
WPTV met with Delray Beach’s John Davidson last week before he began a paddle trip across state from Port St. Lucie to Fort Myers.
Davidson predicted it would take him six and a half days to cross the state of Florida on a stand up paddleboard, but he finished the trip in less than five days.
He is expected to arrive at the Sanibel Harbour Marriott Resort & Spa on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m.
The journey, called Stand Up for Stand Down, aimed to raise awareness about veteran homelessness.
Donations will fund Stand Down House, a home for homeless veterans in Palm Beach County.
Stand Down House has helped more than 2,500 veterans since opening in 2000.
