WELLINGTON, Fla. -- The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office Bomb Squad detonated a suspicious package near the Barnes & Noble book store at 10500 Forest Hill Boulevard in Wellington Wednesday afternoon.
Nearby stores were shut down during the investigation and shoppers had to wait until robots had successfully detonated the bomb before leaving.
"It was really scary," said Amber Cary, who says she had to wait inside Barnes and Noble for five hours until given the all clear. "People were lined up at the windows. They told us to go back to the kids section, so we couldn't move."
After removing what was left of the explosive, members of PBSO's bomb squad took it away and said they would investigate it further.
