Crews from West Palm Beach Fire Rescue worked a fire at St. Andrews Residence, a senior citizens community, on Fern street in downtown West Palm Beach Saturday.
It started around 8 p.m.
Nearly 100 people, mostly elderly residents were evacuated from the 15-story building.
Fire officials said it was quickly contained to the roof and no injuries reported.
The Fire Battalion Chief said the fire started with an electrical panel on the roof and the air-conditioner carried smoke throughout the building.
Many residents reported seeing smoke throughout the building and in their units.
When firefighters arrived they said many of the residents were already cleared out of building.
Everyone made it out safely.
The fire department provided water for the residents while they waited.
The American Red Cross was called to assist with any additional needs, including getting people back in their units and providing more water.
No damage was reported to any of the units.
