Battalion chief involved in crash answering call

A Martin County Fire Rescue battalion chief was involved in a crash with a tractor trailer while responding to a call Tuesday.
 
The crash happened around 11:40 a.m. at the off ramp of I-95 and Martin Highway.
 
The sheriff’s office said the battalion chief was responding to serious accident at Dunklin Park in Indiantown when the driver of the semi failed to yield.
 
The battalion chief was transported by air to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center. His injuries were originally characterized as non-life threatening.
 
The truck driver was not hurt.
 
Investigators have not yet identified either the battalion chief or the semi driver.
 
The sheriff's office said the Florida Highway Patrol will be the lead agency investigating the crash.
