The resident of a Jupiter house on Mohawk Street, where three people were killed, has been taken into custody by the FBI, Jupiter Police Chief Frank Kitzerow announced at a Thursday news conference.

The chief said Charles Vorpagel, 27, is facing federal firearms-related charges.

"We've not been naming any suspects at this point in time and we're continuing the investigation. We do have a person of interest," the chief said.

Police have not yet been able to speak with an injured person linked to the case who is in the hospital.

Extra patrols will be taking place in the neighborhood where the killings took place.

Police say they have cleared the crime scene.

The chief reiterated that the crime was not a random act of violence.

According to the Palm Beach County Clerk, Vorpagel was most recently arrested in April 2014 for driving under the influence and possession of marijuana after he crashed into another vehicle.

In June of 2011 Vorpagel pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana and driving with a suspended license.

In September of 2009, Vorpagel was arrested for carrying a concealed firearm and possession of 50 Xanax pills. He pleaded guilty to both charges.
