A 25-year-old man is dead after he was found with a fatal gunshot wound outside a home in Boca Raton.

Boca Raton police said the shooting happened at 12:17 a.m. inside the San Marco complex located near the corner of Military Trail and Yamato Road.

Resident Jackie Magniccari said the shooting victim, identified as Jacob C. Walsh of Jupiter, ran from the complex’s clubhouse to her door and collapsed.

Magniccari and her fiancee called 911 and said the man’s last words were, "Tell my family I love them, I'm dead."

Walsh was taken to Delray Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

“I'm so traumatized.  It's 4 a.m., and I can't sleep. I'm sick to my stomach. This was a young kid who looked so innocent, and it broke my heart that he died,” said Magniccari.

"There's someone out there that killed this boy, this young boy...I don't care the reason why and I hope (they are) brought to justice," said witness Kim Scott.

Police said there is evidence that Walsh was involved in a drug transaction when he was shot.

Police records indicate he was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and resisting an officer on December 24, 2015.

He was scheduled to take a plea on the charges next week.

Police said they do not have anyone in custody. Call Crime Stoppers at 800-458-TIPS if you can help in the case.
