A local high school band is taking the national stage to represent our community on July Fourth.
The Spanish River High School Silver Sound Marching Band will participate in Tuesday's National Independence Day Parade in Washington, D.C.
The students spent the past few days taking in the sights of our nation's capital before the big event.
They will perform three songs in the parade, which begins at 11:45 a.m. on Constitution Avenue. The band will play Grand Old Flag, American the Beautiful and the Spanish River Fight Song.
You can watch the parade online at 4:30 p.m. at www.july4thparade.com/watch.
The band spent months fundraising to send members to this once in a lifetime opportunity.
School principal William Latson is in D.C. with the band as well.
U.S. Rep. Ted Deutch nominated the band to play in the parade.
