The break happened Sunday just before 3 p.m., according to Boca Raton police.
The closure forced many drivers to detour, causing some traffic headaches.
Bruce Morley was out for a Sunday evening walk. He was forced to detour to the Palmetto Park Bridge.
"Inconvenience of just going around," says Morley.
City leaders originally said the water main break impacted the integrity of the structure. Later engineers found no damage to the bridge.
Utility crews say the reason for the closing was so they could have their equipment on the bridge to fix the pipe.
The bridge may reopen Monday morning. Everyone hopes that is the case.
"Hopefully they'll work quickly to fix it and then it will be fixed effectively and it will all be safe," says Michelle Goebel.
The closest detour is the Palmetto Park Bridge.
