LAKEWOOD PARK, Fla. -- St. Lucie County Sheriff's Deputies are investigating after a dead body was found just before 2 p.m. Thursday, July 14, 2016 in the woods near the intersection of Pensacola Ave. and Fort Pierce Blvd. in Lakewood Park.
St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken Mascara said a neighbor walking along the side of the road discovered the body.
The gender of the deceased person is unknown due to severe decomposition, Mascara says.
“Until positive identification can be made and next of kin is notified, no further information will be provided,” said Sheriff Ken J. Mascara.
