First responders on the Treasure Coast held drills to increase safety and responses to terrorist attacks.

The drills began around 8 a.m. Wednesday at the Tradition Irrigation Facility off Village Parkway Drive.

The chemical explosion drill included a low-lying cloud produced by dry ice, which poses no danger to the public and will float over a crowd pretending to watch a K9 demonstration.

Other drills were held at Florida Atlantic University's Harbor Branch in Fort Pierce and at Witham Field in Stuart.

The drills are conducted every couple years and are set up over a period of six months. Thirty-four agencies participated in Wednesday's drills.
