PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Police need the public's help finding a burglar they say used a dish towel in an attempt to conceal his fingerprints.

On June 1, a burglary victim told police that a person entered his house at  2000 block of SW Bird Ave. through the front dining room window and stole his .38 caliber revolver prescription pills and about $700 in cash.

The victim has a home security camera set up in his living room, which captured the suspect walking through his house carrying a dish towel.

Police looked at the video and saw the suspect, described as a thin white man, 25 to 35 years old, brown hair and beard, bearing a large dark tattoo on his left shoulder and arm, wearing blue jeans, black tank top and dark-colored boots.

Police determined that the burglar entered the home by removing a front window screen then forcing his way through the window.

While inside the house the burglar rummaged through the house, finding the gun, money, and prescription medication.

Call the Port St. Lucie Police Department at (772) 871-5001 or Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-800-273 TIPS if you can help in the case.
