Lanes reopen after semi destroyed by fire on Florida's Turnpike in St. Lucie County

A semi caught fire Tuesday morning on Florida's Turnpike southbound, creating big traffic troubles in St. Lucie County.

The crash occurred at about 6:20 a.m. near mile marker 150 just after Midway Road.

At 7:30 a.m.,  all southbound lanes were closed between Okeechobee Road and Port St Lucie Boulevard.  All lanes were back open by 12:45 p.m.

 

Chopper 5 flew over the scene, which showed the entire cab was destroyed and lumber strewn across the road.
