Southwest Florida woman says she was assaulted by man wearing Donald Trump mask

UPDATE: -- New information from the Cape Coral Police Department indicated that an overnight stabbing was self-inflicted.

Earlier reports claimed an unknown person stabbed the woman while wearing a Donald Trump-style Halloween mask.

Further investigation revealed the woman's injures were self-inflicted.  The victim has been admitted for care under the provisions of the Baker Act. Investigators are no longer looking for a suspect in this case and there is no danger to the public at large.

A masked man is on the loose after police in Southwest Florida said he attacked a woman while wearing a Donald Trump mask. 
 
The Cape Coral Police Department said the attack happened in the 900 block of SW 4th Ave. shortly before 11:30 p.m. Sunday. 
 
Police at the scene said the victim suffered minor injuries.
 
In an alert initially sent out by the department, police described the attack as an aggravated battery/stabbing.
 
Police could not confirm if a stabbing occurred, however officers said the woman had a knife with her.
 
It's not known if she injured her attacker who fled on foot. He's described as a white man wearing black clothing along with the mask.
 
Police searched by ground overnight with K-9 units and by air. The scene cleared early Monday morning.
