WEST PALM BEACH, Fla — For the 60th year, boxing promoter Don King is helping disadvantaged families in South Florida and across the country during the holiday season.
From New York to Los Angeles, encompassing 12 cities in nine different states, King is donating $100,000 worth of turkeys to those in need from Dec. 13 to to Dec. 17.
A news release said King, 87, will donate turkeys in Palm Beach County, Deerfield Beach, Miami, Cleveland, Nashville, New Jersey, Los Angeles, New York, Virginia, Pennsylvania and Las Vegas.
Historically, half of the turkeys are given to agencies while the other hald is given to people who line up at locations.
“We are here to help those in need,” said King in a written statement. “We have been doing this for 60 years and it has always been about the people of this great country. God Bless America and Happy Holidays.”
King was scheduled to give away turkeys Friday at the following South Florida locations:
- Mangonia Park in Palm Beach County at 1415 45th St. at 9 a.m.
- St. Paul’s Methodist Church located at 244 SE 2nd Ave. in Deerfield Beach at 1 p.m.
- Griffin Community Center located at 12220 Griffin Blvd. in North Miami at 3 p.m.
