Cold weather shelters opening across area

PALM BEACH COUNTY

The following cold weather emergency shelter locations will be open beginning at 7:00 PM, Friday, 1/5/2018; and will close as necessary based on weather conditions as outlined in the Cold Weather Shelter Plan.

Transportation to shelters will be via Palm Tran at designated pick up locations. Transportation information can be obtained by contacting:

The Palm Beach County Division of Emergency Management will continue to monitor weather developments and make announcements on any further shelter openings as necessary.

MARTIN COUNTY 

Martin County officials, in partnership with the American Red Cross, will open two cold weather shelters Friday night between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. so individuals and families will have a warm place to stay.

ST. LUCIE COUNTY

In the Image of Christ, 707 N 7th St. in Fort Pierce, will open a cold weather shelter starting at 5 p.m. every night through Sunday, Jan. 7.

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY

The Source, located at 1015 Commerce Avenue in Vero Beach, will open a cold weather night shelter through Saturday Jan. 6, at 6 p.m.

Guests should plan to arrive before 10 p.m. and are accepted on a first come first serve basis. A meal will be served each evening. Regular operating hours will resume on Saturday.  

OKEECHOBEE COUNTY

Shelter closed.
