THIS WEEKEND: National Ghost Hunting Day to feature ghost investigation, paranormal lectures and ghost hunt in Yesteryear Village

Who/What: As part of National Ghost Hunting Day, ESP team members (Explorers of Spirit Phenomena) will be hosting a ghost investigation in Yesteryear Village and conducting a ghost hunt to see if they can pick up any paranormal activity on the premises. ESP's mission is to bridge the gap between the living world and the spirit world.

Where: Yesteryear Village at the South Florida Fairgrounds, 9067 Southern Blvd.,

West Palm Beach

When:

Ghost investigation - 7-10 p.m., Fri., Sept. 28

Living History Park hours - 10 a.m.-4 p.m. "Investigating the Paranormal" lectures are at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., Sat., Sept. 29

Ghost Hunt - 10 p.m.-midnight, Sat., Sept. 29

Details: For the ghost investigation, the ESP team will eerily lead those who are brave enough to explore the haunts and bizarre sightings in many of the authentic, historical buildings located on the South Florida Fairgrounds. Scheduled stops for this intimate experience include the historic Loxahatchee School, the Red Level Baptist Church, and the Riddle House, where the story goes that a soul believes he was wronged in death and cannot move on. Participants will actually get to use the investigational equipment to see if they can pick up electronic voice phenomena (EVP), which are sounds found on electronic recordings that are interpreted as spirit voices. Guests also will take readings on meters and have the opportunity to take photographs. Capacity for this event is limited to 24 people. Cost is $50 per person.

For those who can't make the ghost investigation or yearn for even more, guests may visit Yesteryear Village the following day during the Living History Park hours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to learn about ghost hunting and true ghost stories from the ESP Florida team. They'll present two lectures, "Investigating the Paranormal." Park admission is $10 for adults 12 and up; $7 for seniors and children 6-11 years; and free for kids 5 and under.

For the ghost hunt, the ESP team will be detecting paranormal activity on the Yesteryear Village grounds as part of what's being promoted as "the World's Largest Ghost Hunt." Now in its third year, their efforts will be "live streamed" throughout 12 countries. The event consists of 150 satellite hunts occurring at allegedly haunted locations across the globe on the same day and at the same time. These events will be live streamed and may be accessed online at nationalghosthuntingday.com.
