Beginning Monday, April 23, radio listeners on the Treasure Coast can now listen to WPTV's live newscasts on WPSL-1590 AM weekdays from 5 to 6 p.m.
Listeners will also begin hearing WPTV stories on WPSL and WSTU-1450 AM morning shows.
On Monday morning, WPTV's Treasure Coast reporters Meghan McRoberts and Jon Shainman discussed this new partnership and what to expect.
And when WPTV goes into wall-to-wall coverage of hurricanes, the broadcast signal will be simulcast on the two radio stations as well as on ESPN 106.3 FM in Palm Beach County.
This new partnership will ensure that if Treasure Coast viewers lose power in a hurricane, they will be able to listen to WPTV's live coverage on a portable radio.
"We're excited to partner with WPSL and WSTU," said WPTV General Manager Lloyd Bucher. "Our audiences in the Treasure Coast are extremely important to us. Now, in addition to serving them on TV and the many digital platforms our content lives on, we can also provide WPTV News at 5pm over terrestrial radio, which remains an important and reliable medium."
