FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Trustbridge Hospice Foundation, the primary hospice provider in Palm Beach and Broward counties, is moving its annual "Hooked on Hospice" charity tournament online this year. Like many events in 2020, the annual fishing tournament to raise funds for hospice care has had to be re-imagined for COVID-19.
Traditionally, donors compete to see who can reel in the biggest fish. This year, though, anglers are being tasked with a different goal: reeling in financial contributions. Donors are being asked to reach out to friends, family and associates to raise money for hospice care directly. The fundraising efforts will culminate in a virtual weigh-in party to see who produced the biggest fundraising haul.
"More than ever now, we need the support of our donors as our staff works through the significant challenges presented by the pandemic," said Greg Leach, president and CEO of the Trustbridge Hospice Foundation. "We are casting our call for support even further this year to share the work that Trustbridge provides to Palm Beach and Broward counties."
Trustrbridge provides hospice services at no cost to the community. Beyond traditional hospice care, the foundation also offers charity care, grief counseling, camps for children, music and pet based therapy and comfort care.
