Even though the storm stayed off shore from Florida, Irene had a big impact on our beaches. More than 130 south Florida residents stepped up Saturday to pick up what Irene left behind on Juno Beach. Not a mess, just one of the things that beach goers found on the shore. All part of a special beach cleanup at the Loggerhead Marine Life Center organized after the storm. "We have a tremendous amount of sea turtles that will continue coming onto the beach to lay their nests. We want to make sure it's a clean, safe environment."
It's more than just keeping our beaches beautiful, the center says.
