It’s no secret that succulents are a home decor trend that’s proving to be just as durable and hearty as the desert plants themselves. All you need is a sunny window and a penchant for underwatering your plants — no green thumb required.

Since succulents are kind of everywhere now, it’s not at all surprising that they’ve made their way into the world of wedding trends. Case in point: Some brides are ditching the usual flowers and choosing to carry a succulent bouquet down the aisle. We love how the creativity that’s gone into designing these hand-held wonders draws from something old and something new in delightful ways.

Some brides are mixing their floral media, combining bloom-like echeveria and roses to get the look they want, as in this bouquet @fairyland.sherillobo posted:

Some bouquets forgo all of the traditional flowers in favor of all succulents all the time.

This one (posted by @rencamweddings) is a perfect fit for a wedding in Baja. Those spiky, spotted zebra haworthias create an interesting accent:

This post from @karen.schanley shows how colorful succulents can provide the perfect accent for whatever shade the bridal party is wearing:

And it’s not just bouquets. Boutonnieres are getting the succulent treatment, too. Check out the groom’s boutonniere in this post from @theseasidesucculent:

Some succulent bouquets mix in another design trend — sola wood flowers, which are made from the tapioca plant. This bouquet from @succulentartworks mixed succulents and painted sola wood flowers for a pretty boho look.

Succulent Art Works ships bouquets and boutonnieres for weddings everywhere, and unlike a traditional flower bouquet, you can have your succulent bouquet shipped with a heat pack if you need it in winter.

The company’s succulent care page points out one more reason couples might want to go with succulent bouquets and table decor: Not only are the individual plants in these arrangements long-lasting, but if a leaf breaks off one of the succulents, it’s easy to propagate a new plant from it. You and your guests can take a bit of your wedding home, and the plant could live for years. What a sweet but subtle reminder of your special day!

Some couples aren’t limiting their use of succulents to bouquets.

This wedding (posted by @onlystudio0310) featured succulents in the table decorations:

Such a lovely and lasting way to take your something-borrowed from Mother Nature.
