Christy Waite joined the WPTV team in October 2024 as a multimedia journalist covering K-12 education.
Christy brings more than a decade of reporting and anchoring experience to the role.
Most recently, she worked at Fox Carolina in Greenville, South Carolina as a morning anchor and reporter and covered national stories, including the Alex Murdaugh murder trial, the Chinese Spy Balloon incident and the presidential campaigns for Nikki Haley and Tim Scott.
Christy also reported on key educational issues in South Carolina, including cellphone bans, book debates, teacher shortages and the increased enrollment of students from Ukraine, Russia and other countries.
Before her role in Greenville, Christy was a morning anchor/reporter in Sherman, Texas where she led the market's No. 1 rated morning show. She reported on the COVID-19 pandemic and the devastating ice storm that left millions of Texans without power, water and food.
Before working in the Lone Star State, she worked in Cheyenne, Wyoming as a news and sports reporter/anchor covering breaking news, local elections and notable stories like quarterback Josh Allen's senior year at the University of Wyoming before he was drafted by the Buffalo Bills.
Christy's journalism journey began in her home city of Albuquerque, New Mexico where she worked as a sports reporter covering high school and college athletics and told stories that went beyond the scoreboard.
Christy earned her bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism from Eastern New Mexico University, graduating on the Dean's List. In 2022, she received a master's degree in communication and journalism with a 4.0 GPA, graduating Lambda Pi Eta while working full-time as a news anchor.
Outside of work, Christy enjoys working out, running charity 5Ks, golfing, reading, watching and playing sports, trying new foods, enjoying classic movies and spoiling her dog, The Great Gatsby. Excited to call West Palm Beach home, Christy looks forward to telling your stories.
