JUPITER, Fla. — More than 200 senior citizens and staff at Mangrove Bay senior living community in Jupiter received their first dose of the coronavirus vaccine Tuesday.

Walgreens administered the COVID-19 vaccines at the facility.

In four weeks, the seniors and staff will receive the second dose.

After receiving the vaccine, everyone sat down in the waiting room for about 20 minutes to make sure there were no side effects.

Staff leaders said they wanted to get vaccinated for protection because they are around the elderly daily.

"I think it's going to give us a little bit of normalcy back. Once everyone gets vaccinated, we can live our lives back to normal," said Kelly Carroll, director of sales and marketing at Mangrove Bay senior living community.

The facility will have other rounds of the vaccine in February and March, so the remaining residents and staff can be inoculated.
