PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — Many seniors continue to express frustration and confusion as they try to request a COVID-19 vaccine in Palm Beach County.

Right now, the Florida Department of Health in Palm Beach County requires those 65 and older to send an email to request an appointment, which is proving difficult for some.

Now, one local teen is stepping in to help.

We recently introduced you to Sam Friedman and his non-profit organization, South Florida Tech for Seniors.

The Suncoast High School student created the group to help seniors navigate technology. When the COVID-19 pandemic took hold, his business model changed a bit to offering virtual help instead of in-person sessions.

Now, he is taking his program one step further, helping seniors request COVID-19 vaccine appointments.

Sam created a tutorial specifically showing the process to send an email to the Florida Department of Health in Palm Beach County, and what information is necessary. He created a template email that people can simply click on and fill in their own information. In the video, he says, “we have templates and pre-made resources to help make the process of signing up to get vaccinated as simple as possible. We want to make sure that technology does not stand in the way between you and your COVID-19 vaccination.”
