SEBASTIAN, Fla. — The School District of Indian River County announced Monday that one non-school-based support staff member tested positive for COVID-19.
Following a department of health investigation and contact tracing, one student was identified as having close contact with the staff member who tested positive for COVID-19.
The student was required to quarantine and monitor for symptoms before returning to campus.
According to a news release, the family of the student has been notified by phone from a district official, and all families and staff members of Sebastian River Middle School and Sebastian River High School, which were schools supported by the staff member who tested positive, were notified by School Messenger call confirming the positive support staff case, quarantine information, and that the family of the student required to quarantine had been notified.
School officials said that all areas of campus are being disinfected and sanitized to ensure a safe and healthy environment for the return of students and staff members on Tuesday, Sept. 15.
