Let’s be clear about something up front: Women do not vote for other women just because of their gender. Hillary Clinton and Carly Fiorina are not guaranteed the female vote from their respective parties by a blind gender loyalty. But having a woman in the race is an important and necessary step for the Republican Party, which has notoriously struggled with wooing women voters.
