Musical swings swinging in downtown

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. –With a little pump of your legs, you can relive your childhood and make some music on the Musical Swings.

The Musical Swings are an interactive public art installation created by Daily tous les jours, a Montreal based interaction design studio.

Canaan Walker was one of the first to try out the swings. "I want to swing really high and try and hit fa," she said swinging with her classmates from the Global Perspective School. "Oh my gosh I feel like I'm playing the instrument. I love this," Walker explained. "These swings aren't for little kids, they're for everyone. The swing brings everyone together in such a nice way that you don't usually see every day."

Even West Palm Beach Mayor Jeri Muoio did some swinging, showing you're never too grown up to swing. It's an idea local artist Cherryl Muriente agrees with.

"I say just go swing like why not, why wouldn't you do that," Muriente asked laughing. "To have something that's so renown come to just to West Palm Beach that's incredible."

This is the first time the Musical Swings have come to the East Coast. It's only the second time the swings have come to the U.S. and West Palm Beach is the first stop on the 2016 North America tour. Carmen Baanders came all the way from the Netherlands to see the swings and meet the team behind it.

"Everybody is smiling, everybody is happy and laughing," Baanders said. "I was very intrigued when I saw the swings the very first time. I decided that it was so fantastic and so nice and so great. I thought we really, really need to get the swings to Europe so and basically that's my goal."

The Musical Swings are in West Palm through March 6 and is open weekdays, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and weekends, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Click here for the Musical Swings location.
