Frances Peyton joined WPTV First Alert Weather in January 2024 as the weekend morning meteorologist.
Frances is a Great Falls, Virginia, native chasing sunshine and warmer weather. She is part of Virginia Tech's 2016 meteorology class and played on the women's varsity tennis team all four years. Frances has been forecasting across Virginia, from the southwestern corner to the Shenandoah Valley to central Virginia and her final stop in coastal Virginia. She is excited to forecast the extreme weather South Florida has to offer and experience her first true hurricane season.
Outside of the studio, Frances enjoys being outside in the community with her rescue dog, Kensie. Kensie was rescued while working at her first station in the hills of West Virginia and southwestern Virginia. Kensie and Frances have hiked most of the trails throughout Virginia and the duo is very excited to explore new grounds and trails throughout Florida.
When she isn't entertaining her dog, Frances is enjoying all of her other sports and hobbies: running, golfing, cycling, swimming, pickleball, tennis, needle pointing and playing the guitar. She is hoping to pick up surfing here in Florida.
She is an avid runner, having completed five marathons and qualifying for the Boston Marathon with a 3:20 time from the New York Marathon. In addition to training for New York, she accomplished her goal of $7,500 for Pancreatic Cancer and Research for Memorial Sloan Kettering in honor of her late uncle.
Look for Frances on the weekend morning show and reporting during the week.
