Accio, diapers! Rupert Grint has just confirmed that he is the proud father of a little muggle. Together with partner Georgia Groome, Grint — who famously played Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter films — shared the happy news this week.
A spokesperson for the couple told E! News that the newborn is a baby girl and that the pair is “delighted” about her arrival. They also asked for privacy as they celebrate the new addition to their family.
Not much is known publicly about Grint and Groome’s relationship but it’s been reported by British tabloids that they first began dating in 2011.
Like Grint, Groome is an English actor best known for her starring role in the 2008 teen comedy, “Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging.” The 28-year-old also starred in BBC’s series, “Up the Women.”
The low-key couple kept news of Groome’s pregnancy under wraps until just last month, but Grint has talked openly about wanting to be a father in the past.
“I’d like to settle down and have kids soon,” Grint told The Guardian in 2018.
When the publication asked whether his beloved character’s name from the Wizarding World, Ron Weasley, would make a good moniker, he shut it down for a sensible reason.
“If I had a son, would I call him Ron? It’s quite a good name, but probably not,” the actor said. “And Grint’s a tough name to pair a one-syllable first name with.”
There’s been no word yet on the little girl’s name but, if her father has his way, it will clearly have at least two syllables. Maybe Hermione?
