Having Our Say is the true story of civil rights trailblazers, activists and best friends--the Delany sisters. The critically acclaimed play is based upon the New York Times best-seller, Having Our Say: The Delany Sisters’ First 100 Years.
The Delany sisters’ extraordinary true story is an inspiring oral history of over 100 years of our nation’s heritage, recalling Harlem’s Golden Age, Paul Robeson and Jim Crow. Born to a former slave, the sisters went on to achieve tremendous success; Bessie became a dentist and Sadie became the first black teacher of domestic science in the NYC school system. The play chronicles their well-lived lives with wit and wisdom.
