ORLANDO — Disney wants you to feel like you're living inside an old-timey animated short film with "Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway."
Believe it or not, Mickey and Minnie Mouse have never had a ride-through attraction themed after the duo, but that's set to change on March 4, 2020 when they move into Hollywood Studio's Chinese Theater.
The attraction is styled like Mickey and Minnie's first cartoon called, "Steamboat Willie" which debuted in Nov. 1928.
"Steamboat Willie"
The attraction starts with a short film mimicking the look of the 1920's version of the characters, but they have a modern, updated, and polished look. Goofy stars in the short film as a train's engineer. This week, Disney revealed to Taste and See South Florida that the film concludes when Pluto accidentally throws a pie into the train's smoke stack causing it to backup and burst open with a huge explosion. At the same time guests watching the film see the movie screen burst open, as if blown up by the smoke stack to reveal the entrance to the ride. As guests enter, they are "transformed" into being inside the Mickey Mouse cartoon world.
A new character named Chuuby will join the cast at the attraction.
