Have you been meaning to return that book for a while, but chores, kids, work and just plain life is getting in the way?
Well you will have an entire month to return late books by taking advantage of the Mandel Public Library's "Fine Forgiveness."
From April 1 through April 30 the library will waive all late fees, no matter how long overdue, as well as charges for lost materials including books, CDs, DVDs and other items. The goal of the program is to recover outstanding items and welcome back patrons whose access to library materials has been impeded by overdue fines or charges associated with lost materials.
How to use the "Fine Forgiveness" program:
- Present current ID to verify address
- Return overdue materials
- Fees waved for lost and overdue items
- Library cards reactivated
The Fine Forgiveness program applies only to items checked out before April 1, 2019, when the amnesty period begins. Fines and lost book charges for items borrowed from other libraries will not be waived at any time.
When the program was used in 2017 the library reconnected with over 3,700 people and had close to 1,200 items returned.
