ENTERTAINMENT COMMENTARY

My initial reaction, when I heard the Fontainebleau was hosting a Nelly concert on New Year's Eve, was, "YAS, NELLY," followed by an immediate cringe. The last time I was at the South Beach resort was for the iHeartRadio Pool Party there were tons and tons of people all jammed together, as Flo Rida surfed atop the crowds. Nowadays we call that a "super spreader event."

Because it is 2020 (at least for a few more hours) we are all used to adapting and the Fountainbleau is no different. They've made plans for plenty of room to "Flap Your Wings"

Instead of crowds of people around the pools, there will be static tables six feet apart from each other on the Ocean and LaCote lawns. Guests will be required to stay at their tables, and mask usage will be strictly enforced unless actively drinking or eating. Everyone entering the event will have their temperature checked.

Now, here comes the difficult part, as much as I'm a fan of 2001's 'Ride wit Me', my 'Dilemma' is I absolutely can't afford to go. You might say it's 'Just a Dream' to get 'Hot In Herre' on South Beach, however for those financially blessed a 'Lil Bit', here's how ticket prices break down.

Ticket Prices
SECTION A - $3,699 for up to 6 people ($3,199 for hotel guests)
SECTION B - $2,899 for up to 6 people ($2,399 for hotel guests)
SECTION C - $2,479 for up to 6 people ($1,979 for hotel guests)
SECTION D - $2,279 for up to 6 people or $3,499 for up to 10 people ($1,779 and $2,999 for hotel guests)

Doors open at 8 p.m. with a variety of DJ performances and Nelly takes the stage at around 11:30 p.m. The event ends at 1 p.m. because of a curfew in place by the City of Miami.

If spending money like that is also 'Just a Dream' for you, I've created a New Year's Eve South Florida dining and event guide.
