Marvel characters take over Disney Cruise Line

Posted

Fans of superheroes like Spider-Man, Captain America, Thor, and Black Panther will geek out their fandom during Marvel Day at Sea.

Right now, through April, aboard the Disney Magic, there are special Marvel Day at Sea voyages.

Cruise Director Darren McBurney boasts, "Then one of the days, we turn the whole entire operation into our Marvel day at Sea.  From first thing in the morning to the last thing at night, there are epic adventures to be had."

Those adventures include character interactions with the Spiderman, Thor, and Black Panther from the movie with the same namesake coming out February 16.

There are adult-exclusive experiences inspired by the Guardians of the Galaxy in the Fathoms nightclub, now a Ravager hideout. Guests can even participate in a dance-off with Star-Lord.  Admittedly... I need A LOT of practice.

The Dance-off With Star-Lord

"Over to you man... Like this," commands Star-Lord.  "Like this," I ask?

Families can join Doctor Strange in an interactive new show.

"It's called Dr. Strange's Journey into the mystic arts," says the show's producer.

"It sounds spooky," I say apprehensively.

"It is a little bit," he says.

He showed me how to the mist of Moonapore spell. A spell that is useful for helping to "distract or disorient your opponent," advices Doctor Strange.

"Oh, I need that for my boss," I playfully quip.

"Focus!" (Smoke starts coming out of my hand).

Even the food is themed (a foodies dream).

"This is, right here, this is Doctor Banner's Green Salad," says the ship's culinary director.

My favorite part is the kid's menus. I say giddily, "You have the shield of Captain America and the Hammer of Thor."

The 5-day cruise start at over $2100.  If you are like me and need a little time to save up, there is word the event is coming back next year.

And if the Marvel superheroes aren't your thing, there is also Star Wars Day at Sea sailing out of Port Canaveral.
