According to WalletHub’s 2020 Florida Car Insurance Report, Boynton Beach and Lake Worth were two of the most expensive cities in Florida for car insurance premiums.

The report says it’s because Florida drivers face greater danger on the road.

WalletHub’s report says age is still one of the biggest factors driving the prices up. The average 16-year-old is paying 342% more than 56 year olds.

Your driving record can also affect your premium. According to the report, Florida drivers with a recent accident pay up to 47% more for insurance.

Another factor is the number of miles you drive per year. WalletHub says driving more than 25,000 miles per year means you’ll pay 15% more for car insurance.

The good news is there are ways to save. WalletHub says you can start saving by getting a car that’s cheaper to cover, like a minivan instead of a fast sports car.

The report also says drivers with no accidents, tickets or arrests will have cheaper rates.

Building good credit can also help drive premiums down according to WalletHub. Pay your credit bills on time and try to use less than 30% of your available credit. You can also get discounts if you’re a veteran.
