Secrets to save on Valentine's Day flowers

and last updated

Thinking of ordering flowers for that special someone on Valentine’s Day?

You may want to think ahead this year.

That's because when you order can have a big impact on how much you pay.

Prices jump in early February

Everyone who orders flowers the week before Valentine’s Day knows they're about to be hit with one of the worst deals of the year: high priced roses that sometimes look like they were thrown together.

But the savings website BradsDeals.com says there is a way around it with some florists.

Brads says if you pre-order from national sites like ProFlowers, you'll pay just $49 in January for a dozen roses.

Brads deals suggests ordering now, and scheduling delivery for Valentine’s Day.  With some sites, that technique can save you $20 or more.

You can read the full report about this "hack" at BradsDeals.com.

What happens in February

But from the doesn't that stink file, what happens if you wait until February to order?

Brads Deals claims that same $49 dollar arrangement jumps to $90 February 1st, based on what happened last year.

Place that order the day after the price hike and you'll say "doesn't that stink?"

Local florists, which often have the best quality flowers, may not give you a discount if you order ahead. But you can call them and try.

One other tip for saving

Brads' also suggests to save a few bucks schedule delivery for Friday, February 13th, not Saturday, Valentine’s Day. That can save $10 or more, with either national or local florists.

I'm not so cheap that I would suggest sending your sweetie flowers on January 30th instead of on Valentine’s Day just to save money.

But with some places, if you pre-order in advance for February you'll pay a lot less so you don't waste your money.
