These days, more and more dining establishments are offering delivery service to compete in the modern marketplace. Now you can add fast-food chain Wendy's to the growing list of eateries that will deliver food right to your door. Thanks to a partnership with delivery service DoorDash, you'll soon be able to get your Jr. Bacon cheeseburger, Frosty, fries and all your other favorite Wendy's grub without even leaving the house. And it's happening sooner than you think! Wendy's plans to roll out delivery in 2,500 locations in 48 markets, which is about one-third of its locations, by the end of the year. https://www.instagram.com/p/BZ1JWlfA5he/?hl=en&taken-by=wendys Earlier this year, the company began testing delivery in central Ohio and Dallas. The move allows the chain to reach customers for whom the option for delivery is a priority. Additionally, Wendy's has noticed that delivery orders tend to come with a higher-than-average check size. “Food at home is the competitor,” CEO Todd Penegor said of delivery orders on a call with analysts. The company also plans to implement mobile ordering at 75 percent of its locations by early 2018 and to add digital kiosks to 200 more locations by the end of 2017. “In 2018, technology needs to play a bigger role in the connection to the customer,” Penegor said. Technology is just one strategy the company is utilizing to boost its sales. In recent months, Wendy's has also introduced new premium menu items, including the limited-edition Giant Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger, which has double the beef, bacon and cheese as the original. https://www.instagram.com/p/BYvo2iZgjNP/ Another new menu item is the chicken tenders meal, which includes three chicken tenders, small fries and a drink. “We continue to all up our quality games. We continue to up our asset games with the reimaging of the restaurants. We continue to up our game on the service experience in the restaurant," Penegor said. "A lot of the growth is driven by deal, but it is driven that way because the consumer economic model continues to be under pressure but we're seeing signs where that's starting to improve, too." Here's hoping your local Wendy's is one of the locations that will be offering delivery!
