Gargi Datta, the movie theater gunman's ex-girlfriend, is returning to the stand Thursday morning to testify for the prosecution.
Hertestimony began Wednesday, where she explained that her first date with the gunman was during a horror film festival. It was a casual, yet physical relationship, she said.
However, she began to separate herself from him in early 2012 and they broke up in February of that year. His preparations for the July mass shooting that killed 12 people and injured 70 othersbegan in May, according to evidence admitted during the trial.
James Holmes has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to that shooting. Two state-appointed psychiatrists, however, havetestified he was legally saneand the prosecution is seeking the death penalty.
