Ships that have made stops in Pacific nations will undergo a self-quarantine for 14 days amid growing coronavirus fears, especially as the virus has spread into South Korea and Japan in recent days.

CNN first reported on Thursday that sailors will be monitored for 14 days for symptoms of the coronavirus.

"Out of an abundance of caution, Pacific Fleet is implementing additional mitigations to prevent Sailors from contracting COVID-19, and to monitor Sailors who have traveled to higher-risk areas," US Navy spokesman Lt. James Adam told CNN.

CNN's report added that no members of the US Navy have tested positive for the virus.
