INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, Fla. — Maj. Eric Flowers won the Republican primary for Indian River County sheriff on Tuesday.
With 62% of the vote, Flowers easily defeated Keith Touchberry, Richard Rosell, and C. C. Kirby.
Flowers has been with the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office for 16 years.
During that time, he's worked in multiple capacities including patrol, the SWAT team, the Honor Guard, an undercover narcotics detective, a sex offender tracker, a detective sergeant in the criminal investigation division, in public and community affairs, and now a major for the Bureau of Administration.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday night, Flowers wrote, "Rachel & I want to first thank God for these incredible blessings. Thank you for the outpouring of love, messages, comments, emails, and calls. It’s getting late and we won’t be able to respond to everyone tonight. We will get back to you 💚 Also, due to COVID, we could only have a small watch party this evening. We will have the biggest party Indian River County has ever seen in November when I become SHERIFF-ELECT. THANK YOU 🇺🇸👍🏻🤗"
