$20 cardboard contraption helps save baby's life

A toy-like cardboard contraption that sells for less than $20 online has helped doctors save a baby's life.

Teegan Lexcen was born with only one lung and half of a heart.

Her parents say her doctors told them there was nothing they could do to save her.

But a new team of surgeons at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami recently proved them wrong. They put 2-D images of her heart on an iPhone and put it inside Google Cardboardto see them in 3-D.

That helped them figure out what they were going to see when they opened the baby's chest so that they could map out the operation ahead of time.

Doctors expect Lexcen to go home in the next two weeks… just about six weeks after her surgery.

She's expected to make a full recovery.
