(WPTV) — Submerged cars, roofs ripped to pieces – and so many unknowns. That's the reality for many people living in the Abaco Islands.
Tyler Survane, a North Palm Beach man, said he can't get in touch with his family ever since Dorian Dorian began tearing through the Bahamas.
Survane said it's not unusual for a storm or hurricane to disrupt communication, but he said he's concerned because he's never seen damage like this before.
His family lives throughout the Abaco Islands, and he's hoping to hear from them soon.
"Nobody planned on this storm being as severe as it is," Survane said.
Seeing devastating damage doesn't help ease his nerves, but he's hopeful he will eventually here from his parents, who live on the barrier islands. If not, the Abaco Island native said that as soon as Dorian passes through south Florida, he will return home to help.
“We can’t get any boats over there right now we can’t get any planes over there so it’s kind of a waiting game," Survane said.
Here is video of #MarshHarbour during the hurricane. A #PalmBeachCounty man is now hoping to find his family who was in the #AbacoIslands during #HurricaneDorian. He says it’s been extremely difficult to get ahold of anyone on the island.
