JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-- Dan Westberry has his dog Jack back.
Jack is a 7-year-old boxer-rottweiler mix who suffered a broken leg and severe wounds when an alligator attacked him last week at Ormond Beach.
He underwent a three hour surgery to fix his fractured leg and close two large wounds that required at least forty stitches.
The veterinarian said Jack is lucky to be alive. Westberry said he believes the dog's large size likely helped save his life.
The extensive surgery and recovery cost $8,000.
