(KTRK/CNN) - A gun-toting great grandmother in Texas warned a man who was exposing himself on her property to leave or she would shoot.
He didn’t listen, and she did just that to protect her family.
The brave Houston granny, Jean Wilson, remembers every moment from start to conclusion
"He had his pants open and was playing with himself, and I said, ‘Get away from me. Leave my house. You reach for my door, and I'm gonna shoot you,’” said Wilson.
She opened fire and a bullet struck him in the stomach.
The suspect, Clarence Johnson Jr., 39, has been in and out of jail nine times over the past 22 years -- mostly for drug possession. Ten days ago Johnson was also arrested for possession of what is believed to have been PCP and possibly wandering without wearing clothes.
Wilson knew nothing about that previous arrests, only that she needed to protect her family inside.
"He could have hurt my kids, and that's all I got," said Wilson.
She cares for her disabled grandson and 11-year-old great granddaughter, who were inside her home at the time of the incident.
Johnson survived the shooting and remains hospitalized from a bullet wound to his stomach.
Wilson protected her family, but she takes no pleasure in what happened.
She said she is grateful that her family is safe and that no one died, including the man she says she was forced to shoot.
